Hey there! 🙂 Whether you’re an entrepreneur or not, I hope this post inspires you to try to improve one aspect of your “normal” day.
A “Normal” Day as an Entrepreneur
This is kind of what a “normal” day looks like right now, plus some randomness.
This post is based on my own personal experiences, and some of the links present are affiliate links. For more information, please see my Disclosures.
Good Mornings
Some days I’m ready to get up around 5-6 AM, and some days I sleep in until 7-8 AM. I let my body rest as much as it needs to, since sleep is crucial to the body’s healing processes. Most days begin with Mochi and Waffles snuggle-attacking me in bed for scratches. Throughout the day I allow myself to flow from one thing to the next with no judgment.
Water
I fill up a HydroFlask with water and ice cubes frozen from purified water from my Berkey water purifier, which filters out chlorine, fluoride, and so much else. I drink the whole bottle and re-fill it throughout the day.
Tea
I boil water for tea, and enjoy one of my Ravencrest Botanicals teas. Susanna’s incredible herbal products have changed my life and have helped me heal. My absolute favorite one of her teas is called Blossom & Bloom.
Nutrition
When it comes to nutrition, I aim to eat foods that make my body and mind feel happy rather than inflamed. I did a food intolerance test which led to my decision to largely avoid wheat, gluten, corn, soy, sugar, and anything processed or genetically modified. I lost 50 lbs in 2018 since I’ve made these changes and I feel significantly better. I think every woman should read the book Cooking for Hormone Balance! I stopped taking hormonal birth control and steroidal allergy medications, and I started balancing my hormones naturally.
I like to begin my morning by drinking a nutrient-dense greens powder mixed with some water. I also take a few supplements with water, including noni fruit and gotu kola.
My husband mostly does the grocery shopping, and I mostly do the cooking. I like to start preparing a healthy meal in the morning. It usually takes me between 30 minutes – 2 hours in the kitchen, mostly chopping up lots of different vegetables. I chop up some extra vegetables for snacking, like red peppers and cucumbers. I like to pressure cook the meal first, and then leave it on slow-cooker mode until dinner. I love using lots of turmeric, garlic, and cumin. (I will caution that dealing with raw turmeric will stain your fingers bright yellow, at least for a while! Still, it was fantastic, and I’ll use it again.)
Work
I go to my standing desk and start working: creating, writing, designing, etc. Mochi and Waffles enjoy hanging out by my feet.
Reading
I like to read a book outside on the deck with my dogs. Weather permitting, sort of! If it’s cold, I’ll bundle up and bring a blanket outside along with the hot tea. It can be super comforting. If it’s raining but not a downpour, I’ll still go out there and put a towel down on the chair.
Appointments
I go to appointments if I have any: Chiropractics, Massage Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy, and recording the Sure Uncertainty Podcast with Laurel.
Movement
I move a lot throughout the day. I aim to live a non-sedentary lifestyle. I also go into my home gym to get in some deliberate movement. I have a sustainable habit that keeps me showing up. As a physical therapy patient and as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), I learned how to strengthen my body’s weaknesses. I have a few staple exercises, but I mostly allow the exercises, duration, and intensity to fluctuate like I do. As a water sign (Cancer) I am very connected with the moon cycles, so I try to stay in tune with how my body is feeling at any given time. I aim improve all my movement patterns. I mostly use my bodyweight and various resistance bands, but I still enjoy using dumbbells and kettlebells. Sometimes it’s lighter and more gentle, and other times I work up more of a sweat.
Household Things
I like to flow with my day and see where it leads me. It’s probably some more working, cooking, reading outside, doing laundry or dishes, or cleaning.
Meditation
I enjoy meditating a few afternoons a week for 1-2 hours. Read more about meditation in these posts: Transformative Experiences Through Meditation | Meditating with Lapis Lazuli
Good Evenings
I spend most evenings with my husband. We eat dinner together, go on a walk with the dogs, shower, and talk.
For just a couple hours before bed, we’ll sit on the couch, play a game together, or watch something.
In the evenings I also tend to draw on my iPad using an Apple Pencil and the Procreate app, while my husband tends to do some more coding work.
I enjoy drinking an evening tea a few hours before bed.
We both love our nearly spa-like bedtime ritual.
This Deeply Relaxing Nighttime Ritual is a Self-Care Trifecta:
- Aromatherapy: We fill and turn on a diffuser with water and an essential oil to help with breathing.
- Binaural Beats: We turn on our Beatfulness app and play binaural beats for the duration of the night. Read more about binaural beats in this post.
- Massage: We turn on our Reverie bed base’s massage feature, which runs for 30 minutes.
Healthy habits breed more healthy habits. When you try to make just one positive change, it can oftentimes create a ripple effect of more positive change in your life. Every bit of intention counts!
