Herbal Medicine Benefits of California Poppy
It’s a beautiful sight to see a meadow covered with California poppies in bloom!
I find California poppies to be so cute. California poppies have a sweet and dainty appearance, but there’s more to them than looks.
California poppy can slow down the central nervous system, inducing relaxing and sedative effects which help promote sleep. [1]
California poppy has been shown to cause mild anti-anxiety effects, especially in combination with the mineral magnesium and other herbs shown to help with anxiety. [1]
California poppy has been shown to cause anti-inflammatory, nerve-calming, and pain-relieving effects. [2]
California poppy is not an herb that I use often, but it’s nice to have on hand for the rare occurrence when I really need it. If I’m experiencing significant physical pain and I’ve already exhausted all my other ways of improving my physical state, I may decide to use a tincture of California poppy in a tea to help relieve the pain.
California poppy herb can be used to support you in any relaxing activities such as reading a good book, taking a bath, meditating, or sleeping.
Because California poppy causes drowsiness, it should only be used to support you in activities of rest or relaxation.
Growing California poppy is fairly easy as it does not require much attention. It grows prolifically in sunny conditions.
